Cross Timbers Youth Orchestra of North Texas will host auditions for string, woodwind and classical guitar musicians in elementary school through grade 12 from Collin and surrounding counties on Monday, Jan. 8.
The group includes youth string, classic guitar and percussion orchestras.
Cross Timbers currently includes three students from Richardson, two participating Cypress Orchestra, the highest level, and one in the classical guitar orchestra.
To audition, each student must play a selection from his or her own repertoire, which shows current ability, play at least two scales and sight read. Guitar requirements include ability and demonstrating a strong interest in playing in a large classical guitar ensemble.
Auditions, which must be scheduled in advance, will be held 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the McKinney Performing Arts Center, 111 N. Tennessee, McKinney.
