Lake Highlands Presbyterian Church will host the African Children’s Choir 7 p.m. Friday at the church, 8525 Audelia Road.
The choir contains 25 children from Uganda between 7 and 11 years old. Most of the children have been brought out of tragic circumstances. Donations received at the concert will help build schools, feed children and provide shelter for more than 6,000 destitute African children.

Pearce High School Pacesetters will have a dance workshop for grades kindergarten through tenth Saturday, Jan. 20, at PHS, 1600 N. Coit Road.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the workshop will be from 9 a.m. to noon. Snacks and water will be provided. A performance for family and friends will begin at noon. Lake Highlands Elementary will host a fundraiser auction from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday at Park Lane Ranch, 8787 Park Lane.
The event, “Glitz, Glamour and Gold”, will be the highlight of the school year and feature both live and silent auctions. Festive attire should be worn.
Ticket prices are $15 each or two for $25 and will include dinner choices of pork tenderloin, blackened chicken, sage potatoes, green beans, salad and cheesecake. There will be a cash bar, and entertainment will be provided by The Malfunktions.
