How about a Hug

Richardson-based Hug Internationally is holding a silent auction to benefit the orphans
in Romania, writes correspondent Margaret Mascorro.
Especially targeted now is the Grandmother Program which has lost 8 out of 13 grandmothers working with the orphans because of low funding. These surrogate grandmothers hold and care for the children who otherwise would have no physical touch, hence the name HUG.
The silent auction also will help worthy families that want to adopt internationally but don't have enough funds.
Visit www.huginternationally.org and click on the HELP HUG picture, then ONLINE AUCTION. Bidding ends Wednesday, Feb 21. For more information, contact Hug director Judy Broom of Richardson at 972-690-1484.
Hug is located at 1335 Cypress in Richardson.

Bump - and run anyway

0210RC_HELDCover-2.jpgAssistant editor Angela Chambers prepared this report for the Feb. 10 edition of Richardson Neighbors, but even we occasionally bump a story to run in a later print edition.
Still, it's worthy of note now, because the student art works about which she writes will be on display only until Saturday, Feb. 10, in the Richardson Public Library second floor gallery, 900 Civic Center Drive.
Here's a portion of Angela's report, with all the winners:

Artwork entries came from 191 students, including first-place finishers from Richardson, L.V. Berkner and Lake Highlands high schools.
Students from Pearce and Plano East high schools scored second-place finishes, and a total of 20 students took home awards through honorable mention.
