Richardson-based Hug Internationally is holding a silent auction to benefit the orphans
in Romania, writes correspondent Margaret Mascorro.
Especially targeted now is the Grandmother Program which has lost 8 out of 13 grandmothers working with the orphans because of low funding. These surrogate grandmothers hold and care for the children who otherwise would have no physical touch, hence the name HUG.
The silent auction also will help worthy families that want to adopt internationally but don't have enough funds.
Visit www.huginternationally.org and click on the HELP HUG picture, then ONLINE AUCTION. Bidding ends Wednesday, Feb 21. For more information, contact Hug director Judy Broom of Richardson at 972-690-1484.
Hug is located at 1335 Cypress in Richardson.

Richardson Theatre Centre presents a lighthearted look at romance on Wednesday, Feb. 14, in a special, one-night-only performance featuring Dallas' longest-running comedy/improv troupe, 4 Out of 5 Doctors, and their popular show, Laughter is the Best Aphrodisiac, Sherry Etzel reported for Richardson Neighbors.
The fund-raiser show is presented to assist in covering production costs and rent increases due to the rehab of the II Creeks complex where RTC is located.
Social hour will take place from 7-8 p.m. with the show beginning at 8 p.m. A dessert buffet will be featured at intermission.

Improvisational comedy troupe 4 Out of 5 Doctors, including Sherry Etzel, left front, of North Dallas and Mark Walters, center, of Far North Dallas.
Tickets are $25 and reservations are available by calling (972) 699-1130.
The theatre is located at 2701 Custer Parkway, Suite 718, in the II Creeks complex.
"We considered a move when we were faced with increasing costs, but our patrons and the management team and other tenants at II Creeks have been very vocal about their wish for us to stay put,” said Rachael Lindley, RTC artistic director.
“They consider us a valuable asset to the neighborhood, and everyone is working hard to ensure that we not only remain here, but that we grow and thrive here.”
RTC has provided the Richardson area with performances ranging from dramas to musicals, suspense thrillers to comedies since 1989.
“We're teaming with other tenants to do cross-marketing,” Lindley said, “and the addition of the new restaurant should really be a plus for our patrons, since it will be open before and after shows. It's a big selling point during our current season-ticket drive."
“With that in mind, we will be doing our best to meet the challenge of rent increases by hosting a series of unique fund-raisers in addition to our main stage shows. The Docs did a Valentine's show with us two years ago and were a resounding success. They are a mainstay in the D/FW comedy scene, and we expect a sellout once again.”
4 Out of 5 Doctors was founded in 1987 by a troupe of young actors and musicians and has performed continuously in the area and around the country since.
Their seasonal show, Laughter Is the Best Aphrodisiac, is one of their most popular shows, a mixture of song, sketches and the Docs' signature improvisation. The show irreverently examines the male/female relationship and love with two hours of sketches, song and improvisation. The show is recommended for mature audiences.
The troupe also has a Far North Dallas connection with Mark Walters, a founder, writer and performer in the group and a former teacher at Richardson High School.
Sherry Etzel is a member of the troupe, 4 Out of 5 Doctors.
