Richardson traffic construction tips for the week of Monday, Feb. 19.
Abrams Road - This project includes replacement of the existing undivided roadway with a new four-lane concrete roadway on Abrams Road from Walnut Street to south of Centennial Boulevard. In segments where existing right-of-way allows it, a concrete median will also be built. In addition, the storm sewer system and waterline will be upgraded and new concrete sidewalks, barrier free ramps, roadway illumination and traffic signals will be installed. Construction should be completed by January of 2008.
Arapaho Road from Mimosa Drive to Floyd Road – The project includes pavement repair, barrier free ramps, sidewalks, retaining walls, drainage improvements, landscaping plantings as well as new landscape irrigation systems. Expect up to two directional traffic lanes to be temporarily blocked from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays. The project should be completed by mid-April.
Yale Boulevard - This project includes full depth concrete pavement repairs on Yale Boulevard from Belt Line Road to Chestnut Hill Lane. In addition, sidewalks, residential driveway approaches, wheelchair ramps and median pavement will be repaired. Construction should be completed by the end of March. A traffic lane will be temporarily blocked at a time as needed as the work progresses along this corridor.
Mimosa Drive at Arapaho Road - Traffic lanes on Mimosa Drive at the approach with Arapaho Road will be temporarily closed to traffic as part of the Arapaho Road rehabilitation project. At times only one lane will be available each way at the approach and traffic will be detoured to Glen Cove Drive and Cottonwood Drive. This project phase should be finished by February.
