Look for our cover story by Angela Chambers, assistant editor, in the Feb. 24 edition of Richardson Neighbors on the Civic Art Society's award winners among students from Richardson-area schools who entered the society’s annual Young People’s Scholarship Show. Artwork entries came from 191 students, including first-place finishers from Richardson, L.V. Berkner and Lake Highlands high schools.

Richardson High School Legacy pop ensemble choir will perform “Our Legacy, A night in the ’90s” 7:30 p.m. Thursday at RHS Black Box Theatre, 1250 W. Belt Line Road.
The cost, which includes Starbucks coffee and cheesecake, is $6 students and $8 adults.

A diabetes screening and informational session on risk factors, symptoms and diabetic nutritional information will be held 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, in First Baptist Church of Richardson Fellowship Hall, 1001 N. Central Expressway.
Sherry Davidson, diabetic education nurse at Baylor Hospital in Plano, will conduct the session. Information about women’s health issues will be provided.

Pecos River Brass Band will perform with special guest trombonist Andy Martin 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, at the Charles W. Eisemann Center, 2351 Performance Drive.
Martin has contributed to albums for many popular artists, including the Pussycat Dolls, Coldplay and Michael Buble.
Pecos River Brass Band has recorded five CDs featuring great American classics. Song selections for the Eisemann performance include Stars Fell on Alabama, Pennies From Heaven, The Very Thought of You and Summertime.
Tickets are $25 to $35 and can be purchased by calling the Eisemann at 972-744-4650 or by visiting www.eisemanncenter.com.

Ann Hendrick-Thomas of the Shelton School in Far North Dallas wrote to tell us of the school's theatre arts production of Little Mary Sunshine at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21.
Written and composed by Rick Besoyan, the musical parodies the 1930s Jeanette McDonald and Nelson Eddy melodrama musicals.
The show runs through Saturday, Feb. 24, at the school’s campus MainStage Theater, 15720 Hillcrest Road, Dallas. Tickets cost $5 for students and $8 for adults. The play is appropriate for all ages. For more information and ticket orders, please go to shgmurphy@yahoo.com or phone (972) 509-2033.
