Neighbors 'Spotlight'

Look in the Feb. 24 edition of Richardson Neighbors for our Page 2 "Spotlight" on Aaron Jacobs, a Richardson High School senior from Far North Dallas, who recently was elected international president of the United Synagogue Youth. Jacobs, son of Lyn and Ron Jacobs, is a member of Congregation Beth Torah of Richardson, and immediate past president of the local USY chapter, Rashi.

'The Last Five Years'

The musical The Last Five Years, which chronicles a marriage that ends in divorce, will be performed through Thursday, March 8, by the Labyrinth Theatre at Arapaho United Methodist Church, 1400 W. Arapaho Road.

Las Llaves del Exito

The University of Texas at Dallas will host Las Llaves del Exito, a free one-day program for high school juniors and seniors and their parents to help them learn more about applying to and attending college, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24. The event is co-sponsored by the Dallas County Community College District.

Chamber banquet gets gold

The 50th annual banquet of the Richardson Chamber of Commerce will feature keynote speaker Rich Templeton, president and CEO of Texas Instruments Inc. on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at the Renaissance Richardson Hotel
Also at the banquet, the Chamber will announce the 2006 citizen of the year and pass the gavel to 2007 chairman Richard Ramey, who will succeed Paul Voelker.
Templeton, who assumed the TI’s top roles in 2004, is credited with helping to define and execute company’s strategy to focus on semiconductors for signal processing that helped the company emerge in stronger strategic, technological and product positions and resulted in a market share gain each of the last two years.
Cost to attend the banquet, which begins with a reception at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m., is $80 per person or $900 for a table of 10, which includes company signage and sponsorship recognition. Keyboard festival

The fifth annual Keyboard Ensemble Youth Symphony festival will be held Friday and Saturday, Feb. 23 and 24, in the Lake Highlands Junior High auditorium, 10301 Walnut Hill Lane.
About 150 students and teachers from Richardson ISD and surrounding communities will perform on 16 digital pianos.
Using the selection of instrument voices on the digital pianos, the performers will create ensembles of percussion, jazz, brass bands, full string orchestras and other instrumental ensembles.
Susan Ogilvy, Yamaha keyboard specialist, will be the guest clinician and conductor for the festival and concert.
The 150 participants will conclude the festival 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, with a concert in the school auditorium. Admission is free.

Scofield open house

Correspondent Wanda Campbell writes the following:
Scofield Christian School, located at 7730 Abrams Road in Lake Highlands, will host an open house at 7 p.m. Feb. 22.
Under the leadership of principal Ray Klodzinski, who has served the school for 20 years, Scofield has received three consecutive accreditations with ACSI, grown to include an advanced computer lab, a foreign language program in Latin and Spanish, a middle school with competitive athletics and exemplary fine arts.
